Ericsson recently celebrated its 150th anniversary in Morocco at an event held at the Swedish Embassy in Rabat. The occasion allowed the Swedish group to reflect on over four decades of presence in the Kingdom and recent developments in the telecommunications sector, particularly with the launch of 5G technology.

Ericsson has been present in Morocco since 1984 and has accompanied several stages of telecommunications evolution, from fixed networks to mobile technologies. The company participated in deploying fixed infrastructures before accompanying the arrival of different generations of mobile networks.

Moghite Errami, Head of Cluster Morocco, highlighted that Ericsson's 150 years correspond to 42 years of existence in Morocco, made possible by clients' trust, vision, and engagement. The launch of 5G is one of the latest stages in this evolution, with inwi, Orange Maroc, and Maroc Telecom launching their 5G services simultaneously on November 6, 2025.

Ericsson accompanied operators in this transition, which Errami described as a "grand projet stratégique pour le Maroc". Beyond network deployment, the group's activity in Morocco covers areas related to automation, infrastructure resilience, professional uses of 5G, and digital skills development.

Ericsson works with the three national telecom operators and various institutional and technological actors. Internationally, the group, founded in 1876, has 86,536 employees and holds over 60,000 patents. Its activity covers mobile networks, 5G infrastructures, automation, private networks, and critical communications.

In 2025, Ericsson achieved a net sales revenue of 236.7 billion Swedish crowns. Majda Lahlou Kassi, President of Ericsson Morocco, stated that the anniversary also looks at the sector's future evolutions, with 5G, artificial intelligence, automation, and critical communications opening new perspectives for operators, businesses, and institutions.

Kassi emphasized Morocco's role in Ericsson's regional organization, serving as an important hub with experts contributing to activities covering a wide geography in West and Southern Africa. Moghite Errami concluded that the relationship with clients and partners must continue, with Ericsson committed to fulfilling its engagements.
