Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has declared that the era of clannish politics in the state is over and gone for good. This statement was made through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma, in response to an online publication suggesting that Otti has not done much for Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area, his adopted home.
According to Ekeoma, Dr. Alex Otti is a big player with an urbane view and altruistic philosophy of modern governance. He believes that once governance is holistic and driven with unquenchable altruism, everyone and every clan would benefit. This approach is in contrast to the clannish and medieval philosophy of ‘umunnem system of democracy’ that Otti claims his predecessors practiced.
Ekeoma further explained that if Otti shared the same clannish philosophy as his predecessors, he would have upheld the clan-induced fraud that was going on in Abia State University (ABSU) before he assumed office. He would have also drawn up a list of his supporters and loyalists and their family members and offered them admissions or jobs, even without the existence of job opportunities.
The Special Adviser emphasized that Otti is not a village head, but the governor of a state, unanimously voted by Abians from all parts of the state. He is loved and cherished across the length and breadth of Abia State. Ekeoma described the allegation as baseless and an attempt by dishonest propagandists to score cheap political points.
Ekeoma listed several projects that the Otti administration has either completed or is presently executing in Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area. He said these projects are a testament to the governor's commitment to the development of the area and the state as a whole. The projects, according to him, are evidence that the government is working for the benefit of all citizens, not just a select few.
Dr. Alex Otti has also been making efforts to promote sports development in the state. His investments in sports have been praised by stakeholders, including Okorie.
