Eqxia, a Mauritian firm providing AI training, consulting, and solution development, has achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first Mauritian company certified as a Claude partner by Anthropic. This certification, known as the Claude Partner Network, acknowledges Eqxia's team holding Claude technical certifications, which are utilised in training and building agentic solutions. As a result, Eqxia is now poised to support local businesses in adopting Claude, a leading AI model.

Until now, Mauritian companies have had to adopt Claude without local support, as no certified partner existed in the region. Eqxia fills this gap by offering services in the same time zone as its local clients, in both French and English. The firm's team is committed to being close to clients, understanding their needs, and visiting their offices when required. Eqxia's knowledge of the Mauritian market, including data protection under the Data Protection Act 2017, FSC requirements for financial services, and HRDC funding for training, enables it to provide tailored support.

Eqxia's achievement aligns with its goal of making Mauritius the AI hub of the Indian Ocean and Africa. The country has a solid foundation, having recently entered the top 50 of WIPO's Global Innovation Index 2026, ranking 50th worldwide and remaining the leader in Sub-Saharan Africa. Mauritius's bilingual workforce, data protection law aligned with the EU's GDPR, and regulated financial centre make it an attractive gateway to the continent. Eqxia's co-founder, Alexandre Govin, believes that the country has what it takes to become the region's AI platform.

The certification also supports the Mauritian Government's agenda, as outlined in the 2026-2027 Budget. Artificial intelligence is a priority, with plans to train or equip 50,000 Mauritians in AI usage within a year. The Government aims to establish a National AI Learning Platform, a "Champion of AI" programme, and a National Artificial Intelligence Guideline on governance and responsible use. Eqxia's services, including licence selection, governance, team training, and tracking real usage, will be crucial in helping companies meet these targets.

Eqxia's team has extensive experience in training professionals, having worked with over 4,000 individuals across nearly 200 Mauritian companies. The firm's workshops, approved by the Mauritius Qualifications Authority (MQA), are eligible for HRDC refunds and are conducted in both French and English. Eqxia's approach involves starting with the use cases of each business function and then deploying AI solutions, including Claude, in a way that combines it with other market models or custom development.

For more advanced projects, Eqxia's team of engineers works closely with clients, following the forward deployed engineer (FDE) model. Eqxia designs, builds, and ships agents connected to the company's tools, using the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard created by Anthropic. Every deployment includes access control, action traceability, and human oversight, ensuring that AI solutions are implemented responsibly and effectively.

Eqxia's co-founders, Julien Guillot-Sestier, Alexandre Govin, and Pierre-Louis Patenôtre, are optimistic about the firm's prospects, both locally and regionally. With its certification as a Claude partner, Eqxia is well-positioned to support companies in Mauritius and the Indian Ocean region in adopting AI solutions. The firm's commitment to providing hands-on support, from training to deployment, will be essential in driving AI adoption and innovation in the region.
