The Government of Equatorial Guinea, through the Ministry of Economy, Trade, Industry and Investment Promotion, in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), has organized a training seminar for officials from the border areas of Mongomo and Ebibeyin. The seminar, which marks the first of its kind, aims to equip inspectors of Customs, trade personnel, wholesalers, and border post workers with knowledge on customs and commercial procedures under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

The two-day training focused on enhancing participants' understanding of customs and commercial procedures, as well as introducing them to mechanisms offered by the AfCFTA to facilitate trade among African countries. Discussions centered on coordination among competent institutions and the necessary instruments to promote the internationalization of Equatoguinean products. The seminar provided a platform for professionals from various sectors to share experiences, identify operational challenges, and promote a more coordinated application of AfCFTA mechanisms in Equatorial Guinea.

The training is part of efforts to strengthen the understanding of commercial and customs procedures, improve the competitiveness of national products, and increase the country's participation in the African continental market. A total of 40 participants from the border areas of Mongomo and Ebibeyin benefited from the seminar. The closing ceremony, which included the distribution of certificates, was presided over by Luis Eneme, regional trade delegate, alongside Justino Esono, deputy government delegate of Bidjabidjan, and a representative of the Ebibeyin Town Hall.

Participants expressed gratitude for the training, highlighting its usefulness in improving their performance and service delivery at border posts. The training is expected to enhance trade between Equatorial Guinea and other African countries under the AfCFTA. The seminar is a significant step towards promoting economic integration and cooperation among African countries.

The AfCFTA aims to create a single, unified African market, increasing economic opportunities and improving the lives of Africans. Equatorial Guinea's participation in the agreement is expected to boost its trade and economic growth. The country's strategic location makes it an important player in regional trade.

The training seminar is a collaborative effort between the Government of Equatorial Guinea and the UNDP to support the country's economic development. The initiative demonstrates the government's commitment to promoting trade and economic growth in the region. The success of the seminar is expected to pave the way for future collaborations and training programs.

The boost in trade is expected to have a positive impact on the local economy, creating jobs and increasing revenue. The training of officials from border areas is a crucial step towards achieving this goal. The government's efforts to enhance trade and economic growth are ongoing, with a focus on promoting sustainable development.
