The Enugu State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Martin Chukwunweike, has commended the Local government election held in the 17 local government areas of Enugu as very peaceful and transparent. He expressed satisfaction with the voters' turnout and attributed the success to the teamwork of the Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC), security agencies, and local and national observers. Chukwunweike also thanked God for granting good weather, enabling the electorate to vote for their preferred candidates.
Chukwunweike expressed optimism that APC is the party to beat in the election, citing its candidates' performance in their first tenure. He noted that they replicated the good works of Governor Peter Mbah at the state level in their respective local government areas. The APC chairman also assured that the same maximum support rendered to the 17 local government chairmen in Enugu state will be extended to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Peter Mbah in the 2027 General elections.
A community leader in Isu-Awaa, Elder Geoffrey Ugwu, who voted at Central School Polling Unit 005 in Isu-Awaa/Ituku/Agbudu ward, said he sacrificed time to come out and vote because of the good governance in Enugu state. Ugwu, who was a contractor in Kaduna state, wants the Awgu local government Chairman, Hon. Uche Okolo, to continue, and devoted time to come out and cast his vote to enhance his re-election.
The Managing Director of Enugu East zone bus terminal, Dr. John Egbo, described the Enugu State local government elections held on Saturday, September 26, as very peaceful. Dr. Egbo, who voted in his ward, Amechi East Ward 1, in Enugu South local government area, commended ENSIEC for living up to expectations and thumped up for the security agencies and voters for their peaceful conduct.
Dr. Egbo noted that there was no atom of violence in his ward, adding that the election provided an opportunity for friends to meet and chat with one another. He commended Governor Mbah for his developmental strides in Enugu state, which are fostering the fortunes of APC as the party to beat in Enugu state, come 2027 General elections.
National observers sent from APC National Secretariat Abuja, including Dr. Chuedozie Nwafor, Ruth Barnabas, and Doom Ageba, told newsmen that the Enugu State Local government elections were very peaceful. They monitored the elections in various wards across the state and expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the electorate and the electoral process.
The peaceful conduct of the election has been attributed to the collaborative efforts of ENSIEC, security agencies, and stakeholders. The success of the election has also been seen as a boost to the APC party in Enugu state, with stakeholders expressing confidence in the party's chances in the 2027 General elections.
