On Monday, 28 September 2026, President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi inaugurated the 5th edition of the Egypt Mining Forum in the New Capital. The forum, hosted by the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, aims to promote Egypt's mining potential and investment opportunities. El-Sisi emphasized the Egyptian state's commitment to ensuring the success of investments by companies and businesspeople in the mining sector and beyond.

The forum features a two-day program, including remarks by Petroleum Minister Karim Badawi, keynote speeches by global mining companies and organizations, and a roundtable discussion chaired by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly. The event also includes screenings of documentaries on Egypt's mining sector and live broadcasts from several mining sites across the country. El-Sisi toured the Egypt Mining exhibition, visiting pavilions of the petroleum ministry, Capital Drilling, Elsewedy Electric, and AngloGold Ashanti.

According to Minister Badawi, the forum reflects growing investor interest in Egypt's mining opportunities and serves as an international platform to showcase promising investment opportunities in the country's mining sector. He noted that recent reforms and measures aim to create a more attractive investment climate for mineral exploration and exploitation, while encouraging the establishment of manufacturing industries that maximize the value of mining raw materials.

The forum brings together heads of international organizations, leading Egyptian and Arab mining investors, and foreign companies operating in the mining sector. It features over 30 sessions, 50 participating countries, 100 exhibiting companies, 100 speakers, 500 delegates, and over 6,000 attendees. The event is recognized as Egypt's most senior government-backed mining platform, focusing on advancing exploration, investment, and sustainable growth across Egypt and the Arabian-Nubian Shield.

Badawi stated that the forum's second day will feature a roundtable discussion on investment opportunities, strengthening partnerships with investors, and improving coordination among relevant authorities. The results of the investment opportunities offered by the Mineral Resources and Mining Industries Authority (MRMIA) in June will also be announced. These efforts aim to develop mechanisms for offering mining areas and streamline procedures for awarding them to investors.

Egypt is the world's third-largest holder of phosphate reserves and targets mining-led growth. The country offers mining investors up to 30-year tax and customs exemptions. The forum's theme, "Unlocking Egypt and the Arabian-Nubian Shield's Exploration Potential," highlights the country's efforts to unlock its mining potential and attract investment.

The Egypt Mining Forum is a significant event for the country's mining sector, showcasing its potential and investment opportunities. With broad investment participation and government support, the forum aims to drive growth and development in the sector. Key stakeholders, including mining professionals, investors, operators, policymakers, and technology providers, are attending the event to discuss the future of Egypt's mining industry.
