On Monday, 28 September 2026, President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi inaugurated the 5th edition of the Egypt Mining Forum in the New Capital, emphasizing the Egyptian state's dedication to ensuring the success of investments in the mining sector. The forum, hosted by the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, aims to promote Egypt's mining potential and investment opportunities. El-Sisi toured the exhibition, visiting pavilions of key companies and organizations.

The forum features prominent speakers, including AngloGold Ashanti CEO Alberto Calderon, Australia-Africa Minerals & Energy Group CEO Doug Horak, and International Council on Mining and Metals CEO Rohitesh Dhawan. The event also includes screenings of documentaries highlighting Egypt's mining sector and live broadcasts from several mining sites across the country. Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly attended the opening ceremony, which showcased the country's mineral wealth and investment opportunities.

Petroleum Minister Karim Badawi stated that the forum reflects growing investor interest in Egypt's mining opportunities and serves as a platform to promote the country's mining potential. He noted that recent reforms aim to create a more attractive investment climate for mineral exploration and exploitation. These measures include offering mining areas and streamlining procedures for awarding them to investors, supporting the rapid launch of exploration and prospecting activities.

The forum will feature a roundtable discussion chaired by Prime Minister Madbouly with leading mining investors and companies to discuss investment opportunities and partnerships. Badawi added that the meeting will also focus on improving coordination among relevant authorities to attract necessary investments and maximize the use of Egypt's mineral wealth. The results of investment opportunities offered by MRMIA in June will also be announced during the forum.

The 5th edition of the Egypt Mining Forum is the largest since its launch, featuring over 30 sessions, 50 participating countries, and 100 exhibiting companies. The event has attracted broad investment participation, including heads of international organizations, leading Egyptian and Arab mining investors, and foreign companies operating in the mining sector. It is recognized as Egypt's most senior government-backed mining platform.

Egypt is the world's third-largest holder of phosphate reserves and targets mining-led growth, according to the Minister. The country offers mining investors up to 30-year tax and customs exemptions, as announced by Badawi. The forum provides an opportunity for investors to explore Egypt's mining potential and Arabian-Nubian Shield's exploration potential.

The Egypt Mining Forum will conclude on 29 September, having brought together over 6,000 attendees, including mining professionals, investors, operators, policymakers, and technology providers. The event aims to unlock Egypt and the Arabian-Nubian Shield's exploration potential, promoting sustainable growth and investment in the mining sector.
