Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has outlined his priorities for his second term, focusing on boosting commerce, enhancing productivity, and stimulating sustainable business growth. Speaking at a town hall meeting with stakeholders from Ekiti North Senatorial District, Oyebanji emphasized that his administration's projects would aim to deepen value addition and position the state's economy for higher growth. He will be inaugurated for a second term on October 16.
Oyebanji's second-term agenda includes channeling government investments into critical sectors such as healthcare, electricity, road infrastructure, and water supply to improve living standards and drive economic productivity. He stressed that resources are limited, and therefore, projects must add value, catalyze productivity, and ensure that citizens are productive. The governor cited artisans like welders and auto mechanics as examples of individuals who can thrive and become prosperous with value addition.
The governor reiterated his commitment to inclusive governance, stating that the consultative approach adopted by his administration would be strengthened during his second term to deepen public participation and promote unity across the state. Oyebanji emphasized that governance is about the people and that his administration would continue to seek counsel from citizens in delivering good governance.
Oyebanji also commended traditional rulers for their support, particularly in intelligence gathering, which has contributed to improved security in the state. He urged residents to remain vigilant and assured them that his administration would continue to prioritize security. The governor also expressed appreciation for President Bola Tinubu's federal appointments and infrastructure interventions in Ekiti.
The governor mentioned that collaboration between the state and Federal Government had facilitated the award of major road projects, including the Ado-Ijan-Ilumoba-Ikole and Ado-Aramoko-Ita-Ore roads. He assured residents that other critical roads would receive attention subsequently. Oyebanji also disclosed that Ekiti would intensify mobilisation for President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election, with the aim of increasing his votes in the state.
Traditional rulers and community representatives from Ekiti North Senatorial District commended Oyebanji for ongoing development projects and highlighted priority areas for the 2027 budget, including roads, electricity, water, healthcare, and security. They appealed to the government to accelerate interventions in these areas to improve residents' welfare.
The town hall meeting was attended by dignitaries, including the Deputy Governor, Monisade Afuye; Secretary to the State Government, Habibat Adubiaro; Chief of Staff, Oyeniyi Adebayo; and Head of Service, Folakemi Olomojobi. The event also drew members of the State Executive Council, local government chairmen, traditional rulers, political leaders, and representatives of various community groups.
