The media college at Ain Shams University welcomed its new students for the 2026/2027 academic year with an orientation event on September 24. The event, held under the auspices of Dr. Rami Maher Ghali, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, aimed to introduce students to the college's programs and academic paths. The event was organized by the "IClub" team from the media college, led by Dr. Nada Munir, Director of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Unit.

Before the official program began, new students participated in interactive activities and games designed to facilitate introductions and create a welcoming atmosphere. They also engaged in photography and shared their first impressions of joining the college, as well as their aspirations for the new academic stage. Dr. Heba Shahin, Dean of the media college, welcomed the new batch of students and expressed appreciation for the media professionals and experts who participated in the event to share their experiences.

The event featured a video presentation about the media college and its educational vision, followed by another video showcasing the college's four departments and tracks: visual and audio communication, institutional communication, advertising, and digital journalism. This allowed students to familiarize themselves with the available academic fields. Several media professionals who graduated from Ain Shams University also shared their experiences, emphasizing the importance of utilizing the university years to acquire skills and build a professional personality.

Hani Hathout, a sports media professional, stressed the significance of perseverance and not fearing rejection, as well as the importance of continuous reading and self-cultivation. Mohamed Iraqi, director of media for the Egyptian Football Association and analyst for On Sport channel, discussed the nature of the media job market and the challenges faced by graduates, urging students to develop their skills and specialize in their desired field.

The event also included a presentation about the college's student union, highlighting its activities, competitions, and events. Fadi Ibrahim, a radio host at "9090," talked about the diversity of media fields, including channels, radio stations, and digital platforms, emphasizing the importance of language proficiency, particularly Arabic. Aziza Abu Bakr, assistant editor-in-chief of the Youth magazine at Al-Ahram newspaper and editor-in-chief of CBC channel, encouraged students to gain practical experience early on during their studies.

Samah Najm, a host and media professional at Voice of Arabs, noted that university years represent a valuable opportunity for learning through experience and trial and error. He advised students to discover fields that align with their passions and not be constrained by traditional choices in selecting their media paths. The event concluded with an award ceremony for participating media professionals, event organizers, and outstanding students.
