The Mansoura University, led by Dr. Sherif Khatter, participated in the 14th University Youth Week festival, hosted by Minya University from September 25 to 30, 2026. The festival is held under the slogan "From the heart of Upper Egypt, we create" and is sponsored by the Egyptian Prime Minister, Dr. Mostafa Madbouli, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Abdel Aziz Kansoua, and the President of Minya University, Dr. Essam El-Din Sadek Farahat.
Mansoura University presented a model of the new Mansoura city during the festival, designed to reflect some of the city's features and urban style, showcasing its development. The model combines precision in execution and artistic touch. According to Dr. Khatter, the choice of the new Mansoura city to participate in the festival is due to its representation of a model for urban expansion and modern development.
The new Mansoura city is one of the fourth-generation cities implemented by the Egyptian state, and its foundation stone was laid by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, who also inaugurated it in December 2022. Dr. Khatter emphasized that the students' presentation of the city in the form of a model during the festival reflects their ability to utilize their talents and ideas in innovative works.
The model was designed using various materials, including white wood, iron, and alternatives to PVC and stones, with elements inspired by the new Mansoura city and added aesthetic details that express its urban style and development. The festival also featured various performances by delegations from participating universities and higher education institutions.
The festival's activities include a parade that took place in the streets of Minya city, marking the beginning of the 14th University Youth Week. The parade featured models representing several universities, governorates, and developmental projects. The Mansoura University's participation is supervised by Dr. Walid Al-Tantawi, Assistant Secretary of the University for Education and Students' Affairs.
The university's delegation is headed by Ahmed Al-Ashri Halal, Director General of Student Care at Mansoura University. The festival's activities will continue until September 30, 2026, and include sports, artistic, cultural, scientific, and social competitions and events.
