On the second day of his participation in the InnoTrans conference and exhibition in Berlin, Egyptian Transport Minister Kامل الوزير met with Hungarian Transport Minister David Vitézy to discuss enhancing cooperation between the two countries in various transportation fields. The meeting was attended by Engineer Wajdi Radwan, Deputy Minister of Transport for Electric Traction and Railways. The ministers emphasized the depth of Egyptian-Hungarian relations and their desire to enhance cooperation, particularly in the railway sector.
The discussion between the two ministers covered the latest developments in their cooperation in the railway sector and ways to enhance Egyptian-Hungarian collaboration in various transportation fields. They also exchanged expertise and utilized the available resources and expertise of both countries to develop public transportation systems, railways, and green transportation. The ministers reviewed the current cooperation between the two countries and explored new opportunities for collaboration.
Minister الوزير then visited the InnoTrans exhibition, where he inspected several booths of international and local companies participating in the event. These companies are linked to the implementation of various projects in cooperation with the Egyptian Ministry of Transport across different transportation sectors. The minister was briefed on the latest solutions and advanced technologies offered by these companies and reviewed the progress of ongoing projects and future cooperation areas.
During his visit, Minister الوزير held a series of meetings with executives from these companies, starting with Joseph Marino, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hitachi. They discussed the implementation rates of several joint projects, including the Alexandria Metro project, where Hitachi is executing system works, including signals, communications, and control. The minister emphasized the need to accelerate the completion of system works in coordination with the main contractor.
The minister also met with Martin Seon, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Alstom. They discussed the fruitful cooperation between Alstom and the Egyptian Ministry of Transport in implementing several projects, including the two monorail lines in East and West Nile. The minister was briefed on the latest developments in the sixth line of the metro, which extends from the Helipolis neighborhood in the north to the New Maadi neighborhood in the south.
As part of the Egyptian government's efforts to deepen local manufacturing and localize transportation industries, Minister الوزير inspected the booth of TRUST, an Egyptian company specializing in manufacturing train and bus seats. He handed the company a certificate of IRIS, the international standard for the railway industry, which is awarded for continuous improvement in railway industries, particularly in product reliability, maintainability, and spare parts availability.
The minister praised TRUST's products as an important step in manufacturing transportation components and meeting local market needs while opening up to exporting to external markets. He emphasized that the Ministry of Transport is implementing a comprehensive plan to localize various transportation industries and deepen local manufacturing, which will increase the local component ratio, transfer and localize modern technology, reduce reliance on imports, and provide the needs of current and future projects.
