The Egyptian Stock Exchange (EGX) began Monday's trading session with a mixed performance, as the main index rose driven by the increase in shares of leading companies, including Egyptian Telecommunications and Egypt Fertilizer - Mobco. The EGX30 index rose by 0.08% to 55413 points, while the EGX30 equal-weighted index increased by 0.18% to 69088 points. The EGX30 total return index also grew by 0.16% to 25875 points.
On the other hand, the EGX70 and EGX100 indices, which track the performance of medium and small-sized companies, declined. The EGX70 equal-weighted index fell by 0.37% to 20985 points, and the EGX100 equal-weighted index dropped by 0.26% to 27562 points. The Islamic Sharia index rose by 0.2% to 6684 points, while the Tamiz index declined by 0.54% to 48331 points.
The trading volume on the EGX reached EGP 3 billion within the first 30 minutes of the session. The market witnessed a flurry of activities, with several stocks experiencing significant movements. The EGX announced that trading was halted on three stocks - South Valley Cement, BGI for Trade and Investment, and Mina Pharm for Pharmaceuticals and Chemical Industries - for 10 minutes due to their prices exceeding 5%.
In a related development, the EGX disclosed the transactions of insiders and major shareholders in several listed companies during Sunday's trading session. These transactions included purchases and sales of shares in various sectors. Notable transactions included the purchase of 510,000 shares of Industrial and Engineering Projects by an insider and the acquisition of 1,050 shares of Golden Textile by a related party.
Other significant transactions included the purchase of 70,000 shares of Arab Real Estate Investment Company by an insider and the acquisition of 50,500 shares of Al-Waridah Islamic Development by a related party. Additionally, a related party purchased 6,748,064 shares of Kuber for Commercial and Real Estate Development, while an insider bought 16,000 shares of New Cairo for Housing and Development.
On the selling side, several insiders and related parties divested their shares in various companies. Notable transactions included the sale of 26 million shares of Gourmet Egypt by an insider and the disposal of 6,185 shares of Ajoo for Food Industries - Egypt by an insider. Other significant sales included the divestment of 58,713 shares of Financial and Industrial Company and the sale of 17,000 shares of Ferkim Egypt for Fertilizers and Chemicals.
Several listed companies announced their financial results for the past period. Alexandria Pharmaceuticals and Chemical Industries reported sales of EGP 3.2 billion for the period from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026, representing a 15.24% growth compared to the same period last year. The company's net profit after tax reached EGP 525.8 million, up 34.16% from the previous year.
