The Egyptian National Railway Authority has completed the upgrade of 33 major workshops to increase productivity and quality. The upgrade was done in collaboration with several international companies specializing in and supplying mobile units. The upgrade included working with General Electric on workshops in Teben and Mubarak, as well as working with Talgo on sorting workshops.
The upgrade also included the establishment of a new workshop in Abu Zaabal in collaboration with Transmash Holding. As part of its plan to develop the maintenance system, the authority has completed the establishment of eight new workshops out of a total of 11 planned workshops. These include: Mubarak, Bishtil locomotives, Bishtil cars, Talgo passenger trains, High Dam cars, Aswan locomotives, Spanish at the sorting facility, and Minya additional.
The authority is currently implementing three new workshops: Imbaba, the Republic of Aswan, and Talgo sleepers at the sorting facility. The goal of the upgrade and establishment of new workshops is to increase the authority's ability to carry out the necessary maintenance of cars and locomotives. This will improve the level of service provided to passengers and meet operating needs on the lines of the coastal region and various governorates.
The Egyptian railway authority has announced the schedules for trains from Cairo to the coastal governorates and Alexandria. Passengers traveling between Cairo and Alexandria are interested in the train schedules. The list of trips includes several air-conditioned trains, "Taheya Misr" trains, and ventilated trains, according to the specified departure and arrival times.

Train number 2023, which leaves Cairo at 2:00 pm and arrives in Alexandria at 4:30 pm. Train number 2027, which leaves Cairo at 7:00 pm and arrives in Alexandria at 9:30 pm.
Other trains from Cairo to Alexandria include: Train number 1205 "Taheya Misr", which leaves Cairo at 6:45 am. Train number 3009, third air-conditioned, which leaves Cairo at 7:10 pm. Train number 1131, third air-conditioned, which leaves Cairo at 7:00 am. Train number 7, ventilation, which leaves Cairo at 6:20 am.
The train schedules from Alexandria to Cairo also include several trains. Some of the prominent times include: Train number 2022, which leaves Alexandria at 7:00 pm and arrives in Cairo at 9:30 pm. Train number 2024, which leaves Alexandria at 2:00 pm and arrives in Cairo at 4:30 pm. Notably, the schedule of train 2022 is adjusted on Fridays and official holidays.
