Egyptian Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouli conducted an inspection tour of various projects aimed at expanding green spaces in Cairo. The tour aimed to monitor the implementation of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's directive to enhance the urban environment and aesthetic appeal of cities.
During the tour, Dr. Madbouli emphasized the government's commitment to executing the President's directives, focusing on utilizing vacant and underutilized lands for creating gardens and green spaces. He highlighted the importance of increasing the per capita share of green spaces and improving the quality of life. The Prime Minister also stressed the need to expand tree planting and green areas along main roads, highways, and city entrances.

She emphasized the importance of expanding tree planting and green spaces while preserving existing trees and enhancing open areas. The tour included inspecting afforestation efforts under the 10th of Ramadan Bridge (formerly known as the Ibrahim El-Arabi Bridge) in Cairo. The Prime Minister then proceeded to the area under the Prophet's Mosque Bridge to monitor the progress of work according to the governorate's plan. He also visited the area under the Civilizations Axis to inspect afforestation efforts.
Dr. Ibrahim Saber, Governor of Cairo, explained the governorate's plan to implement the President's directive. He described it as a participatory plan involving three main components: the executive bodies, civil associations, and citizens themselves. The plan focuses on raising awareness about the importance of afforestation and intensifying tree planting, especially in main roads and suitable areas.
The Governor of Cairo mentioned that the plan is being executed scientifically, with the help of a specialized consulting office in afforestation. The office is responsible for selecting suitable tree species, focusing on those that provide shade, consume less water, and can withstand climate conditions. The governorate has already begun implementing the plan, having planted over 3,000 trees and approximately 700,000 shrubs and plants.
Dr. Mostafa Madbouli concluded the tour by emphasizing the importance of public participation in protecting and preserving trees. He stressed that this is a shared responsibility between the executive bodies and citizens. The Prime Minister urged for the continuation of work on this large-scale environmental project and its expansion to various areas of the Greater Cairo region.
