The Egyptian port of Damietta has reported a significant movement of ships over the past 24 hours. According to the Damietta Port Authority, 8 new ships arrived at the port, while 5 ships departed, bringing the total number of vessels currently docked to 30. In contrast, 64687 tons of general cargo were imported, including 30500 tons of corn, 2298 tons of soybeans, 1830 tons of lentils, 5200 tons of scrap metal, 8568 tons of iron, and 15700 tons of sugar.

The port's export activities included the shipment of Egyptian products to 12 countries via the Roll-on/Roll-off (RORO) line connecting Damietta to the Italian port of Trieste. The RORO vessel Gallipoli Seaways departed after handling 3723 tons of cargo, including vegetables, fruits, aluminum cables, textiles, clothing, car parts, and other goods destined for various European and African countries.

The cargo on board the Gallipoli Seaways was diverse, including export goods bound for Italy, the Netherlands, Germany, England, Slovenia, Slovakia, Hungary, Morocco, France, Austria, the Czech Republic, and Spain. This highlights the port's strategic importance in facilitating trade between Egypt and multiple international destinations.

In terms of commodity-specific handling, the port's import cargo included 591 tons of wood. The variety of goods being handled at the port underscores its role as a critical hub for international trade and commerce.
