The Egyptian House of Representatives' Complaints and Proposals Committee, led by Deputy Nafea Abdel Hadi, discussed a proposal for establishing a multi-specialty hospital on a vacant plot within the Imbaba Medical Complex in Giza. The proposal, submitted by MP Ahmed Al-Ajouz, aims to address the healthcare needs of Imbaba's 5 million residents and surrounding areas. The area currently lacks sufficient medical institutions, leading to overcrowding in existing hospitals.

MP Ahmed Al-Ajouz emphasized that the new hospital would provide essential medical services to citizens, particularly those with lower incomes who cannot afford private healthcare. He noted that the Egyptian Constitution guarantees the right to health, with Article 18 obliging the state to maintain and improve public healthcare services. The proposed hospital would help reduce waiting lists and provide comprehensive medical care.

The Imbaba Medical Complex, located on the Nile Corniche, already houses several specialized hospitals and institutes. A plot of land within the complex was initially allocated for a specialized dental hospital, but construction stalled despite available funding. Al-Ajouz suggested completing the project and converting it into a multi-specialty hospital with various medical departments.

The proposed hospital would include departments for obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedics, dentistry, neurosurgery, and intensive care, among others. Additionally, the proposal involves establishing a nursing school to train qualified nursing staff for the hospital. This would help address the healthcare needs of Imbaba and surrounding areas.

The committee meeting was attended by Dr. Sherif Safwat, Deputy Head of the General Authority for Teaching Hospitals and Institutes, and Dr. Osama Al-Shakani, Deputy Minister of Health in Giza. The committee decided to form a task force, including government officials and MP Al-Ajouz, to study the proposal and explore implementation options.

The task force will examine the feasibility of the proposal and discuss ways to move forward. The committee will reconvene to review the task force's findings and make a decision on the proposal. The new hospital would significantly improve healthcare services for Imbaba's residents and alleviate pressure on existing hospitals.

The proposal's discussion highlights the Egyptian government's efforts to improve healthcare services and address the needs of its citizens. The establishment of a new multi-specialty hospital in Imbaba would be a significant step towards achieving this goal. The committee's decision to form a task force demonstrates its commitment to exploring solutions to the area's healthcare challenges.
