The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population has been actively monitoring the progress of various healthcare projects across the country. According to a report received by Minister of Health and Population Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, between September 13 and 19, 2026, teams from the ministry's National Projects Follow-up Department conducted 19 on-site visits to healthcare facilities in 9 governorates. These visits aimed to assess the implementation rates of these projects.
The visits revealed advanced completion rates for several projects. Notably, Ismailia Governorate's Kantara West and Kantara East hospitals have achieved 100% completion. Additionally, Abu Suwir Hospital reached 90% completion, while the Saba'a Bar West health unit attained 80% completion. These projects are part of Egypt's efforts to enhance its healthcare infrastructure.
Several other projects have also made significant progress, with some exceeding 70% completion. These include the Obour East City health unit in Ismailia and the outpatient clinics building at Kantara West Hospital. Meanwhile, work continues at a rapid pace on the New El Alamein Hospital in Matruh Governorate. The ministry remains committed to overseeing the successful completion of these projects.
Dr. Hussam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, highlighted the importance of these projects in improving healthcare services nationwide. He emphasized that the ministry's follow-up visits are crucial in ensuring that these facilities are completed and operational as soon as possible. This aligns with Egypt's goal of expanding comprehensive health coverage.
Dr. Sharif Mustafa, Assistant Minister for National Projects, reported that the official handover of several projects has been completed. These include the Imbaba Health Technical Institute in Giza Governorate, as well as Thathaa General Hospital, Sakhltah Hospital in Sohag Governorate, and Abu Tisht in Qena Governorate. The ministry is now focusing on preparatory work and maintenance planning for these facilities.
Dr. Mustafa also mentioned that the ministry has begun general maintenance work on buildings and electromechanical systems at Dayrut Central Hospital in Asyut Governorate. Furthermore, the handover process for the Kifah Health Unit in New Valley Governorate has been finalized. These efforts are part of the ministry's strategy to ensure the efficient operation and sustainability of these healthcare facilities.
