Egyptian Minister of Petroleum, Karim Badawi, conducted an inspection of the National Natural Gas Control Center (NATA) at the Egyptian Natural Gas Company (GASCO) headquarters. The visit aimed to monitor the management and operation of the national natural gas network, assess its readiness, and evaluate the efficiency of control mechanisms in regulating natural gas flow. This move is part of the continuous follow-up on the energy supply system and securing the local market's needs for natural gas.

During the visit, Badawi reviewed the current status of natural gas supplies from various sources, including local production and imports. He was briefed on the mechanisms for receiving, transporting, and distributing natural gas through the national network to meet the needs of various consumer sectors, including electricity and industry. The minister was accompanied by Sidi Salem, Executive Director of the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS), and Mohamed Marzouq, CEO of GASCO.

The minister examined the monitoring and control system for natural gas flows through the national network and the mechanisms for immediate response to changes in supply and consumption rates. This allows for flexibility in managing and distributing available quantities according to sector priorities and needs while maintaining network stability and continuity of supplies.

Badawi emphasized the importance of continued coordination and integration among different sectors of the petroleum industry and enhancing the efficiency of natural gas management. He stressed the need to accelerate the introduction of new wells into the local production map and increase production rates to bridge the gap between production and consumption and reduce reliance on imports.

The minister praised the efforts of the National Control Center staff and their vital role in managing and operating the national natural gas network and monitoring its flow around the clock. He highlighted the importance of continuing to develop operational efficiency and rapid response to changes to ensure network stability and natural gas supplies to various sectors.

The visit comes in light of regional challenges and changes in global energy markets. Egypt is working to secure its energy needs and maintain the stability of its natural gas supply. The minister's inspection reflects the government's commitment to closely monitoring the energy sector and taking necessary measures to ensure its sustainability.

The Egyptian government continues to focus on enhancing its energy sector's capabilities, including increasing natural gas production and improving the efficiency of its distribution networks. These efforts aim to meet growing demand, reduce dependence on imports, and ensure a stable energy supply for the country's various sectors.
