Egyptian Minister of Endowments Osama El-Azhari visited New Valley Governorate on September 27, 2026, to celebrate its national day. He met with governor Hanan Majdi, imams, and preachers from the Ministry of Endowments. A group of talented students from the governorate then performed a religious hymn titled "From Darkness to Light."
Ramadan Youssef, director of the New Valley Endowments Directorate, welcomed El-Azhari and praised the visit as a motivation to continue working on mosque construction and development. He also highlighted the Ministry of Endowments' efforts to spread correct religious thought and counter extremist ideology. The governorate has witnessed various religious activities, new mosques, and renovation projects.

He also mentioned the experience of building environmentally-friendly mosques, which was first implemented in the Red Sea region and is now being repeated in New Valley Governorate.
During his visit, El-Azhari met with four children at the airport who expressed their ambitions to become officers or a scientist. He praised their aspirations and emphasized the importance of providing care and encouragement to children and youth. El-Azhari also addressed the imams, preachers, and Endowments Ministry staff in the governorate, expressing his confidence in their ability to perform their duties effectively.
El-Azhari concluded his visit by emphasizing the importance of taking care of mosques, serving their worshippers, and providing them with a peaceful and welcoming environment. He also reiterated Egypt's stance on the Palestinian issue, rejecting any attempts to displace the Palestinian people from their land and emphasizing the need to establish a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders.
