Egyptian Housing Minister Randa El-Menashy has been monitoring the progress of several sewage projects in four governorates - Minya, Beni Suef, Damietta, and Sohag - as part of the presidential initiative "Hayat Karima" (A Dignified Life). The projects are being implemented by the National Water and Sanitation Authority. El-Menashy reviewed reports and results from on-site inspections to ensure the projects are on track.
In Beni Suef governorate, El-Menashy discussed the latest developments in sewage projects with the chairman of the National Water and Sanitation Authority, Amin Shouqi. The projects include the construction of a wastewater treatment plant in Dendil with a capacity of 40/80 thousand cubic meters per day and a wastewater pumping station in Ashment village. Other projects involve sewage networks and treatment plants in several areas.
The minister also reviewed the status of sewage projects in Damietta governorate, including a wastewater treatment plant in Kafour El-Ghab with a capacity of 5/10 thousand cubic meters per day. Another project involves a wastewater treatment plant in Um El-Rizq with a capacity of 5 thousand cubic meters per day. El-Menashy also looked into a project for a wastewater treatment plant in Kfar Suleiman El-Bahri.
In Sohag governorate, El-Menashy examined the progress of sewage projects, including one in the village of Awlad Ismail, which involves a pumping station and a discharge line. Another project in the village of El-Galawiya includes a main pumping station, a main discharge line, and sewage networks. These projects aim to improve sanitation services for residents.
El-Menashy also monitored sewage projects in Minya governorate, including a wastewater pumping station in Sheikh Masoud village and another in El-Baslqon village. Other projects involve pumping stations in several areas and the expansion of a wastewater treatment plant in Abu Qarqas to serve 12 villages. The minister emphasized the importance of meeting technical standards and resolving obstacles to accelerate project implementation.
The monitoring tours were attended by several high-ranking officials, including the head of the Central Administration for Implementing Eastern Marine Projects and the head of the Central Administration for Implementing Southern Egypt Projects. The officials discussed the progress of projects and the challenges faced during implementation.
El-Menashy stressed the need to improve sanitation services and support sustainable development plans in the governorates. The "Hayat Karima" initiative aims to develop rural areas and improve living standards for residents. The minister's monitoring tours reflect the government's commitment to achieving these goals.
