Dr. Manal Awad, Egypt's Minister of Local Development and Environment, recently met with Matruh Governor, Dr. Mohamed Al-Zamlot, at the ministry's headquarters in the new capital. The meeting aimed to discuss several developmental and service files of priority in the governorate. Dr. Awad emphasized the ministry's commitment to continuing coordination with Matruh Governorate to boost the implementation of projects and improve services provided to citizens.

The meeting covered the current status of investment projects outlined in the first quarter of the 2026/2027 fiscal year. It also touched on efforts to plant trees along roads, axes, and city entrances, in line with directives from the political leadership and Prime Minister's assignments. Furthermore, discussions focused on developing an integrated waste management system, particularly in Marsa Matruh city and tourist areas.

The meeting also addressed the latest developments in the implementation of the 30th wave of removing encroachments on state and agricultural lands. Dr. Awad stressed the need for swift action against new encroachments and taking legal measures against citizens, in coordination with the concerned authorities and the state land reclamation committee.

The meeting reviewed the progress in regularizing state lands and efforts to expedite the completion of regularization files and provide facilitation to citizens in the governorate's cities. The governor presented the status and procedures for handling regularization requests, in accordance with Law 144 of 2017 and Law 168 of 2025.

Dr. Awad directed the need to quickly finalize all eligible regularization requests, address obstacles, and continue monitoring to preserve state and citizen rights. She also discussed with the governor the status of the file on amending construction violations in various governorate cities to accelerate performance and complete all submitted requests.

The minister emphasized the importance of continuous communication between the governorate's executive bodies, leadership, and citizens, and addressing their demands. The meeting concluded with an emphasis on enhancing services and responding to citizens' needs.
