Egyptian Tourism Minister Shриф فتحي and Civil Aviation Minister سامح الحفني participated in a session titled "Egypt's Diversified Tourism: Enhancing Competitiveness and Investment." The session was part of the "Al-Ahram Egyptian Tourism Forum: Diversified Components for Enhanced Competitiveness," organized by Al-Ahram under the auspices of Prime Minister الدكتور مصطفى مدبولي. The event took place at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat.
The session focused on developing tourism products, converting them into experiences that cater to different markets, and increasing tourist numbers, stay duration, and spending. The discussion also covered enhancing Egypt's appeal as an investment destination, expanding hotel capacity, integrating aviation and tourism marketing, and improving the tourist experience. Minister فتحي stressed that every million tourists support around 220,000 direct and indirect job opportunities.
Minister فتحي highlighted the importance of collaboration between various government sectors to recognize the value of the tourism industry. He mentioned working on promoting Marsa Matruh and linking it to Siwa Oasis and Egyptian Bedouin culture. The minister also emphasized the fruitful cooperation between the Ministries of Tourism and Civil Aviation, particularly during recent regional events.
Civil Aviation Minister سامح الحفني noted that his ministry is working to expand the capacity of El-Alamein International Airport, which has seen a 50% increase in charter flights this summer compared to the same period last year. He emphasized the close relationship between tourism and aviation, stating that tourists rely on air travel as a primary means of visiting Egypt.
Minister الحفني discussed the importance of integrating aviation, tourism, transportation, and marketing to develop Egypt's tourism product. He mentioned that the Ministry of Civil Aviation is working to provide diverse flights, both regular and charter, and is launching a new e-visa system. The minister also highlighted efforts to enhance the capabilities of national airlines and expand air connectivity.
حسام الشاعر, head of the Egyptian Tourism Chambers Union, emphasized the need for streamlined licensing procedures for tourism infrastructure and competitive land prices for tourism investment. شريف البنا, a member of the Travel Agencies Chamber, noted that Egypt offers a high-value tourism product and is shifting towards luxury tourism.
The forum's discussions highlighted the importance of promoting Egypt's diversified tourism and converting it into a global competitive force. The country's tourism product is considered to have high competitive potential, with efforts underway to promote it through various channels. The ministers and participants stressed the need for continued collaboration to enhance Egypt's tourism industry and achieve sustainable growth.
