Egyptian Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, Randa El-Menashy, recently visited North Sinai to assess development projects in the region. Her trip aimed to implement Egypt's comprehensive development vision for Sinai, as per the political leadership's directives. The goal is to maximize the use of Sinai's natural and economic resources, create a supportive environment for investments, and establish integrated urban communities that provide job opportunities and improve living standards for residents.

El-Menashy highlighted that providing safe and sustainable water sources is crucial for development in North Sinai. This is a key factor in stabilizing population settlements. She inspected the construction of a seawater desalination plant in the new East Port Said "Salam" city, which will produce 150,000 cubic meters of water per day. This project will support the region's development plans and serve the economic zone and Salam city.

The minister also discussed the importance of the "30 June" water lifting project, which aims to support the drinking water system in Bir Al-Abd center and city. The project will improve water supply to several villages and population centers, including 30 June, Um Aqaba, Qatia, Aqitiya, Al-Ganin, and Al-Muraih. This will enhance drinking water supplies and meet citizens' needs in these areas.

El-Menashy reported that several projects are nearing completion, including the 30 June water lifting station and the Al-Safa water lifting station in Al-Arish. Additionally, the sewage project in Al-Arish and the sewage project in Bir Al-Abd are expected to be finished by the end of this year. The ministry is also providing drinking water to central Sinai using several water trucks.

The minister emphasized that her ministry will continue to implement and monitor basic infrastructure and utility projects in Sinai, in coordination with relevant authorities. The goal is to accelerate implementation rates and achieve the highest operational efficiency for these projects, supporting the state's efforts to develop Sinai and establish a sustainable development base.

El-Menashy's visit reflects the Egyptian government's commitment to developing Sinai and improving living conditions for its residents. The region has significant economic and geographical potential, and the government aims to harness this potential to drive growth and development.
