The Egyptian markets witnessed a relative stability in prices of vegetables, fruits, fish, and poultry on Monday, October 5, 2026. According to the latest updates from the Obour Market for wholesale and the Poultry Exchange, the stability is attributed to the availability of supplies and regular trading activity. A field survey revealed slight variations between wholesale and retail prices due to transportation costs and profit margins, with no significant price jumps observed.

The prices of vegetables showed relative stability, with slight increases ranging from 3 to 7 pounds per kilogram in retail markets compared to wholesale prices. For instance, tomatoes ranged from 6 to 12 pounds per kilogram, potatoes from 14 to 18 pounds, and white onions from 12 to 18 pounds. Other vegetables, such as zucchini, carrots, eggplants, and peppers, also recorded stable prices.

The prices of fruits also remained stable with minor variations in retail prices. Orange prices ranged from 11 to 15 pounds per kilogram for local oranges, while Abou Sera oranges ranged from 20 to 25 pounds per kilogram. Other fruits, such as grapefruits, lemons, grapes, and mangoes, recorded prices within specific ranges. For example, bananas ranged from 22 to 32 pounds per kilogram.

The prices of fish maintained their stability, particularly for tilapia, which is in high demand. The prices of tilapia ranged from 72 to 76 pounds per kilogram, while other fish, such as fillet, white bass, and shrimp, recorded prices within specific ranges. For instance, the price of frozen shrimp ranged from 175 to 525 pounds per kilogram, depending on size.

The prices of poultry also remained stable, with white chicken prices ranging from 60 to 70 pounds per kilogram in the poultry exchange. In retail markets, prices ranged from 80 to 85 pounds per kilogram, depending on the region and transportation costs. The prices of other types of chicken, such as Saso and local chicken, also recorded stable prices.

The prices of eggs also showed stability in both wholesale and retail markets. Red eggs were priced at 105 pounds per carton in wholesale markets, while white eggs were priced at 100 pounds per carton. In retail markets, prices ranged from 115 to 125 pounds per carton for red eggs and 110 to 120 pounds per carton for white eggs.

The prices of meat also remained stable, with the availability of various types of meat in consumer outlets and complexes. The prices of local meat, such as beef and lamb, ranged from 400 to 450 pounds per kilogram and 380 to 430 pounds per kilogram, respectively.
