Egyptian Investment and Foreign Trade Minister, Dr. Mohamed Farid, met with a delegation from S&P Global Ratings, led by Ravi Bhatia, Principal Credit Rating Officer, to discuss Egypt's economic updates and investment prospects. The meeting focused on the state's efforts to enhance business environment competitiveness and implement economic reforms. Dr. Farid emphasized that the government is implementing comprehensive structural and institutional reforms to facilitate business operations and attract local and foreign investments.

Dr. Farid highlighted the launch of the "Economic Entity Platform," coordinated with nearly 90 government entities and institutions, providing a unified digital window for company establishment, licensing, and approvals. This platform aims to streamline procedures, reduce bureaucracy, and enhance data and document submission efficiency. The minister also mentioned plans to expand investment zones across provinces, with a goal to establish 8-9 new zones over the next 2-3 years, creating job opportunities and promoting economic growth near population centers.

The minister discussed Egypt's strategy to attract foreign direct investment through sectoral targeting and direct communication with companies, based on a strategy developed with the World Bank. The strategy identifies 12 promising sectors to attract new investments and create added value for the Egyptian economy. Dr. Farid also mentioned that the ministry is preparing a package of ready and executable investment opportunities in various sectors, reflecting the actual needs of the Egyptian market.

Dr. Farid emphasized the importance of developing an economic data collection system and enhancing disclosure and governance. He noted that the ministry is working to electronically link the foreign direct investment disclosure and investment system with relevant entities, improving economic data quality and measuring investment flows according to international standards. The minister also reviewed the role of the Egyptian Sovereign Fund in supporting economic development, attracting investments, and maximizing returns on state-owned assets.

Ravi Bhatia praised Egypt's economic and investment potential, citing its market size, strategic location, and infrastructure development. He emphasized the importance of continued institutional and digital reforms, particularly in simplifying procedures, enhancing transparency, and providing economic data. Bhatia expressed S&P Global Ratings' interest in monitoring Egypt's economic developments and measures to improve the investment climate and enhance economic performance.

The meeting also covered discussions on regional and international economic developments, with Dr. Farid assuring that the government has addressed economic challenges through balanced financial and monetary policies, aiming to maintain macroeconomic stability and boost investor confidence. He noted growing interest from international investors in various productive and service sectors, driven by Egypt's market potential, strategic location, and infrastructure development.
