The Egyptian General Authority for Investment and Free Zones recently organized a visit for a delegation of leaders from African investment and promotion agencies to the Alexandria General Free Zone. This visit took place on the sidelines of the "El Alamein - Africa for Business" forum. The delegation included prominent figures such as Anne Rosette, CEO of the Seychelles Investment Board, and Amina Houssein Guireh, Deputy CEO of the Djibouti National Investment Promotion Agency.
The Egyptian delegation was led by Brigadier General Yasser Abbas and Engineer Waleed Anwar, Deputy Executive President of the Authority. During the visit, they showcased the services and benefits provided by the Authority to projects operating in free zones, highlighting their role in supporting production, exports, and attracting investments in accordance with the Investment Law No. 72 of 2017.
Brigadier General Yasser Abbas emphasized that the Alexandria General Free Zone boasts a prime location, integrated infrastructure, and comprehensive services, with connections to transportation networks and ports. This setup supports industrial, service, and export activities. The Authority also presented the main sectors operating in the zone, including textiles, clothing, chemicals, petroleum, electrical industries, as well as services and storage.
Engineer Waleed Anwar stated that the Authority is committed to developing services for investors, streamlining procedures, and enhancing the investment climate. He highlighted the importance of exchanging expertise with African investment agencies and opening new avenues for cooperation and attracting joint investments. The visit included inspections of projects such as "Nile Linen Group," "Pharma Plast," and "Alex Apparel."
The goal of the visit was to familiarize the African delegation with the activities and production and export plans of these projects. This initiative aims to strengthen ties and foster collaboration between Egyptian and African investment agencies. The exchange is expected to contribute to improving the investment environment and promoting joint investments.
