Egyptian Housing Minister Randa El-Menashy recently reviewed the implementation status of various projects in New Suez City, a fourth-generation city near the Adabiya and Ain Sokhna ports. The minister received a report on the city's ongoing projects, including the emergency phase on 300 acres within the first phase. The report covered the progress of residential and service projects, as well as infrastructure, road development, and efficiency enhancements.
El-Menashy directed the continuation of project implementation, completion of remaining work according to schedule, and quality assurance. She emphasized the importance of coordination between the city authorities and executing companies, as well as addressing any issues that arise during implementation. The report included findings from a recent inspection by Ammar Mandour, Deputy Chairman of the New Urban Communities Authority for Development and Construction.
The inspection covered various projects, including the free housing project, which comprises 86 buildings with 2064 units of 90 square meters each. Authorities reviewed the final works and preparations for unit handover, as well as internal and external finishing touches. The "Dyarna" project, featuring five buildings with 130 units of up to 120 square meters, was also inspected. Furthermore, officials looked into a 33-classroom school, a model nursery, and a commercial market with seven shops and a pharmacy.
The commercial market was put up for public auction and sold out. El-Menashy and her team also evaluated the workflow and service delivery at the city's technological center and administrative building. The center's progress in processing transactions and providing services to citizens and investors was assessed. Additionally, the team reviewed agricultural work, site landscaping, and tree planting, which aims to enhance the city's aesthetic appeal.
Key infrastructure projects were also monitored, including a strategic connection bridge and a main water pumping station. The bridge's construction involves deep foundations, normal and reinforced bases, column pouring, and beam installation. The water station, which will be linked to a 10,000-cubic-meter main reservoir, has reached an advanced stage of completion. The station will improve the city's drinking water distribution network and accommodate growing demands.
The minister's report also covered gas and electricity projects. A natural gas pressure reduction station and main and subsidiary gas networks are nearly 95% complete. In the electricity sector, a 220/22/22 kV main transformer station with a 240 MVA capacity is under construction. The station will serve the city's first phase, which spans 2200 acres, and support ongoing development and urban expansion.
Finally, El-Menashy's team reviewed road efficiency improvement projects, including the coastal road in the first industrial zone. The road's condition and readiness for use were assessed, with a focus on enhancing traffic flow. Ongoing landscaping and greenery work aims to add beauty to the city's roads, axes, and residential and service areas. The city features a diverse range of trees, shrubs, and decorative plants.
