The Healthcare Authority's facilities in Aswan currently comprise 105 healthcare units, including 9 hospitals and 96 family medicine centers. Plans are underway to expand to 123 facilities, with 11 hospitals and 112 family medicine centers. This expansion aims to increase the geographical reach of healthcare services and enhance the capacity of the healthcare system in the governorate.
Aswan has seen significant investments in specialized healthcare services, including advanced cardiac and vascular care at the Nile Hospital. The Aswan Specialized Hospital has also expanded its services to include neurosurgery, pediatric surgery, and maxillofacial surgery. Additionally, the Aswan Oncology Center has introduced services for blood diseases, and the Eye Hospital has added plastic surgery and strabismus services.
The Comprehensive Health Insurance scheme has achieved substantial registration and participation in Aswan, with over 1.4 million citizens enrolled out of a population of approximately 1.7 million. This represents a participation rate of over 81%. Furthermore, more than 307,000 comprehensive medical examinations have been conducted, reflecting the growing utilization of healthcare services and the emphasis on preventive care.
