The Egyptian Health Sciences Syndicate has announced the opening of a new field of work for graduates of applied health sciences colleges in occupational safety and health specialties and work environment insurance. This came after they were included in the categories eligible to join specialized training programs, according to Article 28 of the Minister of Labor's decision published in the Egyptian Gazette, Issue 225, Part (A), issued on October 12, 2026.

Ahmed El-Debiky, the Syndicate's president, stated that this new opportunity arose from the syndicate's efforts and discussions within the Higher Council for Social Consultation, which includes representatives from syndicates, business owners, and the government. The goal is to expand job opportunities for syndicate members and utilize their scientific qualifications in new specialties without affecting their rights or assignments in health facilities.

El-Debiky mentioned that the syndicate's efforts began years ago through its participation in the Higher Council for Social Consultation. The council conducts social dialogues on labor-related legislation and executive decisions, allowing for the discussion of professional groups' demands with concerned authorities. The council participated in discussing the new Labor Law No. 14 of 2025 and subsequent ministerial decisions to regulate its implementation.

The Syndicate's president added that the syndicate reviewed a draft decision on occupational safety and health and identified the need to expand the range of qualifications and specialties that can be utilized in this field. This ensures that Health Sciences graduates are not overlooked, especially since their study of scientific materials is related to the nature of work in occupational safety, health, and environment.

El-Debiky stated that he reviewed the draft with a specialized committee that included consultants from the Ministry of Labor and the State Council. The goal was to adjust the wording and determine the qualifications and specialties that match the training programs, considering the needs of the Health Sciences sector, labor universities, cultural institutions, and occupational safety centers.

The Syndicate's president emphasized that the syndicate insisted on the right of Health Sciences graduates to benefit from this career path based on their scientific studies in colleges and institutes. He clarified that the committee's efforts aimed to reach a formulation that allows the acceptance of related qualifications. The decision was presented to the Higher Council for Social Consultation and the Minister of Labor for adoption procedures.

The decision identified conditions for joining programs to qualify specialists, supervisors, and technicians in occupational safety and health and work environment insurance. The programs accept those with higher qualifications from scientific and applied colleges related to the nature of the activity, including applied Health Sciences colleges, according to program conditions and accepted specialties.
