Egyptian Health Minister Khalid Abdel Ghaffar recently visited the 137 Emergency Services Center and the National Project for Care and Emergency Services, "Racayat Masr". The visit aimed to ensure the smooth operation and efficient delivery of medical services to citizens. During the visit, the minister was briefed on the latest mechanisms for receiving reports and monitoring critical cases.
The minister inspected the hotline room, 16474, which is part of the "Every Second is Life" heart initiative and the stroke initiative. He reviewed the mechanisms for receiving calls, registering cases, and directing them. According to the ministry, a total of 22,736 cases have been registered, including 7,490 catheterization cases and 3,633 stent implantation cases.
The minister also witnessed a detailed presentation on the proposed "Command Center" project for centralized healthcare governance. The project aims to establish an integrated system for real-time monitoring of critical cases nationwide and tracking available beds, which will support rapid decision-making and case management.
During the visit, Abdel Ghaffar inspected the complaint and inquiry room, monitoring the work mechanisms from receiving calls to providing appropriate guidance. He listened to a random call about a poisoning case that was transferred to a doctor within one minute, praising the rapid response and efficient handling.
The minister reviewed the 137 Emergency Services Center's operations, where a total of 999,766 cases were received, with an immediate response rate of 98.2%. The center handles an average of 83,314 cases per month. Additionally, the minister reviewed the "Racayat Masr" center's indicators, which have registered 796,722 cases, with an average of 66,394 cases per month.
The minister also examined the connection and coordination mechanisms between the emergency services and "Racayat Masr" centers. According to the ministry's spokesperson, Dr. Hussam Abdel Ghaffar, the system's capacity has increased, with 1,403 more critical care beds, a 44.8% increase, and 742 more incubators, a 23.7% increase.
The Egyptian Ministry of Health aims to continue developing its emergency and healthcare systems to ensure rapid and efficient medical services. The minister emphasized that rapid response to citizens' needs is a top priority and that it is the citizens' right to receive appropriate healthcare services in a timely manner.
