The Egyptian market consumes approximately 560,000 tons of wheat per month. This includes 200,000 tons for pasta production, both for local consumption and export, and another 200,000 tons for tourist bakeries, rural tourist villages, restaurants, and packaged flour sold in 1-kilogram containers. Furthermore, 160,000 tons are used by candy, biscuit, and pastry factories.
The Grain Industry Chamber's initiative guarantees that flour will be provided to licensed bakeries at a reasonable cost. This measure prevents unjustified price hikes and ensures that the production and distribution of bread in various governorates occur at actual costs. The collaboration between the Grain Industry Chamber and the Ministry of Supply aims to provide citizens with fairly priced, high-quality bread.
