The Minya governorate in Egypt recently organized an awareness seminar and expanded meeting to introduce the second phase of the national campaign for family development and reproductive health. The campaign, launched by the Ministry of Health and Population under the slogan "For our children," aims to raise awareness about the importance of family planning and reproductive health. The event was held at the Minya Public Library in collaboration with the health, social solidarity, education, and information departments.

The seminar reviewed the campaign's objectives and areas of work for the upcoming phase, which targets enhancing awareness of family planning and reproductive health. The goal is to create a societal movement involving various concerned parties and institutions to support family stability and improve population and health indicators. Participants emphasized the importance of addressing the results of the Egyptian Family Survey by intensifying awareness efforts and providing free family planning and health counseling services.

The campaign includes several key areas, such as promoting maternal and child health, raising awareness about the importance of spacing births 3-5 years apart, and encouraging the use of long-term family planning methods like IUDs and capsules. The campaign also focuses on promoting natural childbirth and breastfeeding, reducing unnecessary cesarean sections and formula use, and addressing social issues like child marriage, school dropout rates, and child labor.

The meeting reviewed the achievements of the campaign's first phase, which covered five health administrations: Minya, Abou Qurqas, Mallawi, Samalout, and Adwa. Efforts will continue to provide health and awareness services to targeted groups. The second phase of the campaign is set to launch on October 10 and run until November 23, 2026, covering the centers of Beni Mazar, Maghagha, Matai, and Deir Mawas.

The event saw a large turnout of leaders and representatives from concerned parties, including Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and the family development team at the health department. The importance of integrating roles between institutions to succeed in the campaign's objectives was emphasized. The pivotal role of rural guides in reaching families in villages and homes and disseminating family planning and reproductive health messages was also highlighted.

The meeting showcased the cooperation between various entities, including supporting pharmacies, and the organization of awareness seminars with the participation of religious leaders and executive leaders. In conclusion, the Minya governorate called on families in targeted centers and villages to benefit from the campaign's services and visit affiliated clinics to receive free family planning, health counseling, and medical services.

The campaign is part of the state's efforts to support citizen health and promote family development and reproductive health programs. The governorate urged families to take advantage of the campaign's services, which are provided through fixed and mobile clinics. By doing so, the campaign aims to contribute to improving health indicators and supporting family stability in Egypt.
