Egypt's Aswan Governor, Amr Lashin, has taken swift action to address the concerns of farmers in the "Bashayer Al-Khair" village, located in the Aoun Al-Ghada region along Lake Nasser. The governor responded to a plea from local farmers regarding the malfunctioning of the main irrigation pump, which threatened to disrupt the regular supply of water to agricultural lands and potentially damage crops.
Governor Lashin has instructed the implementation of immediate measures to rectify the situation and ensure a steady flow of irrigation water to the farms. The pump had recently stopped functioning, despite being newly installed before the current administration took over the project. The governor emphasized that the pump is still under warranty, prompting him to urge the concerned company to expedite the repair and maintenance work.
The governor highlighted that since assuming responsibility for the Aoun Al-Ghada region, his administration has developed a comprehensive plan to tackle various challenges and service deficiencies in the area. This plan was informed by the results of field visits conducted in June and August, aimed at improving living conditions and services for residents and farmers.
Governor Lashin reported that his administration is committed to ongoing monitoring and evaluation of different sectors in the Aoun Al-Ghada region. A current project involves supporting irrigation stations in several villages, including Jorf Hussein, Bashayer Al-Khair, Kalabshah, Tomas, and Afia, with additional pumps to boost the efficiency of the irrigation system.
During a recent visit, Governor Lashin instructed a comprehensive inventory of all disabled equipment and vehicles stored in warehouses, including loaders, tractors, cars, and generators. He vowed to take decisive action against any negligence in routine maintenance, underscoring the importance of optimizing available resources and preventing past instances of equipment failure.
The governor's directives aim to enhance the performance of available assets and equipment, particularly given that past equipment failures have impacted station operations and services provided to citizens.
