On September 22, 2026, Egyptian Governor of Minya, Major General Emad Kdwani, launched a comprehensive medical convoy for people with disabilities. Governor Emad Kdwani emphasized that the Egyptian state is committed to establishing a comprehensive system to care for people with disabilities. He highlighted that the convoy represents a model of integration between state institutions, civil society organizations, and the banking sector. The goal is to provide health and rehabilitation services to those in need across different regions.
Dr. Afaf Al-Gohary, Head of the Health Sector at "Egyptian Charity," stated that the convoy targets 400 beneficiaries and provides services, including medical examinations, diagnoses, and treatments. She added that 20 wheelchairs will be distributed to eligible cases during the convoy. The charity also provides support for individuals requiring extended medical care and conducts medical referrals for those needing further examinations or surgeries.
Abdul Hamid Al-Tahawi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Solidarity in Minya, stressed the ministry's continued cooperation with civil society organizations to support and provide medical care to vulnerable groups. He mentioned that the efforts of civil society organizations go beyond organizing medical convoys and providing assistance to implementing comprehensive development and social initiatives.
Dr. Sheimaa Ali Taha, Deputy Director of the Minya Health Directorate, confirmed that the medical support for the convoy is provided in cooperation with the Raa'i Al-Saleh Hospital in Samalut. She emphasized the importance of integrating efforts between different parties and institutions to provide the best level of medical care and services to patients.
The convoy was attended by several officials, including Dr. Afaf Al-Gohary, Head of the Health Sector at "Egyptian Charity," and Dr. Ahmed Mohamed Noman, General Manager of the Minya Region at the National Bank of Egypt. Other attendees included Huda Sif, Director of the Minya Office of "Egyptian Charity," and Abd El-Hamid Al-Tahawi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Solidarity in Minya.
