The Governor of South Sinai, Dr. Ismail Mohammed Kamal, recently discussed the significant development projects in Sinai on the Egyptian Television program, "Economy 24". He emphasized that these projects have received substantial attention from the Egyptian government. During the program, Dr. Kamal highlighted the improvements in the region's infrastructure, including a new network of roads that connect all cities in South Sinai, enhancing accessibility and reducing travel times.
One notable achievement mentioned by Dr. Kamal was the reduction in travel time from 7 hours to just 4 hours to reach Sharm El-Sheikh. This improvement is a result of the new road network that links South Sinai's cities, including Taba, Nuweiba, and Ras Sedr, to the Nile Delta region. The governor also pointed out that these development projects have not only improved connectivity but also contributed to protecting investments in the region.
Dr. Kamal further elaborated on the government's efforts to mitigate the risks of floods in Sinai. He mentioned that a comprehensive plan was implemented to protect the region from floodwaters, which had previously caused significant damage to infrastructure and homes in 2013 and 2014. The governor emphasized that these projects have safeguarded state and private sector investments in the area.
In addition to infrastructure development, Dr. Kamal discussed the importance of human development in Sinai. He highlighted the role of the Sinai Development Agency, which was established to provide alternative housing for Bedouin families, replacing temporary accommodations. The agency distributes these homes annually in a transparent manner, contributing to the stability and sense of security among the local population.
The governor also noted significant improvements in education within the region. He mentioned that numerous schools have been built in Bedouin communities and valleys, leading to an increase in education levels. As a result, many young people from Sinai are now pursuing higher education at top universities and even holding positions in the Egyptian Parliament.
Dr. Kamal emphasized that the development of human capital and increased awareness and culture are crucial for enhancing the connection between the people of Sinai and the Egyptian state. He expressed his confidence that the next generation of Sinai residents will play a vital role in leading the region's development.
The "Economy 24" program, on which Dr. Kamal appeared, is broadcast on the First Channel from Sunday to Thursday. The program is presented by journalists Mahmoud Youssef, Ahmed Nageeb, and Walaa Ghanem, offering in-depth analysis and discussions on Egypt's economic landscape.
