On Monday, Minya Governor Imad Kdwani attended a ceremony in the village of Beni Salem and its affiliated areas in the Der Mawas center, where he handed over the keys to 20 renovated homes to their residents. The homes were renovated under the "Skan Karim" project, in cooperation with the Orman Association and the Egyptian Petroleum Sector's "Ebisco" company. The initiative aims to provide suitable housing and sustainable income sources for low-income families.
The event was attended by several high-ranking officials, including Major General Mamdouh Shaban, General Director of the Orman Association, and Abdel Hamid El-Tahawi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Solidarity. The governor emphasized that providing suitable housing and economic empowerment for low-income families are key aspects of improving living standards and enhancing social protection. He highlighted the state's efforts to support these families and improve their living conditions, especially in the most needy areas.
Governor Kdwani praised the collaboration between the executive authorities, civil society institutions, and the private sector, citing the partnership with the Orman Association and "Ebisco" as a model of effective social responsibility. He stressed that this cooperation helps transform support efforts into sustainable development projects that enable families to become self-sufficient. The governor also mentioned that the Minya Governorate provided a package of urgent social protection assistance to the beneficiary families, including basic food items and municipal meat.
Mamdouh Shaban explained that the homes were selected under the "Skan Karim" project, part of the presidential initiative "Hayat Karima", to improve the living conditions of low-income families. He stated that the renovation work included 20 homes with areas ranging from 60 to 70 square meters, which underwent comprehensive renovation and rehabilitation, including roofing, plastering, painting, and renewal of electricity and plumbing networks.
Shaban added that the economic empowerment efforts included supporting 14 families from the village by implementing 14 small projects in various fields, such as tailoring, carpentry, grocery stores, and plumbing. Each project received an initial disbursement of 15,000 Egyptian pounds, enabling the beneficiaries to start their projects and provide income sources to achieve economic and social stability.
The "Skan Karim" project is part of a broader effort to improve living conditions and provide support to low-income families in Egypt.
