Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty has been holding a series of bilateral meetings with his counterparts on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly in New York. During his meeting with Pakistani Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Abdelatty and Dar praised the significant progress in Egyptian-Pakistani relations, highlighting the high level of consultation and coordination between the two countries. They emphasized the importance of continuing joint work to enhance political, security, economic, trade, and investment cooperation. The two ministers also discussed the activation of the Egyptian-Pakistani Business Council to promote communication between business communities and increase Pakistani investments in Egypt.
Abdelatty also met with Kenyan Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Musalia Mudavadi to discuss ways to enhance bilateral relations and coordinate on regional issues of common interest. Abdelatty expressed Egypt's keenness to continue developing political, economic, and developmental cooperation, building on the outcomes of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's visit to Nairobi in May. The two sides also reviewed preparations for Egypt's hosting of the Africa Science and Technology Forum from October 2-4, 2026.
In his meeting with Latvian Foreign Minister Baiba Braže, Abdelatty and Braže discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations, focusing on increasing trade and economic cooperation, as well as exchanging high-level visits and regular cooperation mechanisms. Abdelatty emphasized the importance of enhancing trilateral cooperation with Latvia in Africa, leveraging Egypt's geographical location as a gateway for European exports to African countries.
Abdelatty also met with Tunisian Foreign Minister Mohamed Ali Nafti, with the two ministers affirming their satisfaction with the special nature of Egyptian-Tunisian relations and historical ties between the two countries. They discussed follow-up on the implementation of the outcomes of the 18th Egyptian-Tunisian Joint High Committee. On the regional level, they exchanged views on developments in Gaza, Libya, and Sudan, stressing the importance of intensifying coordination and consultation on regional crises.
The Egyptian Foreign Minister's meetings also touched on several regional and international issues, including the Iranian file, the Palestinian issue, and the Ukrainian crisis. Abdelatty emphasized the importance of allowing space for political paths and negotiations to reach peaceful solutions to crises.
