Dr. Abdelatty met with Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud. They agreed to continue close consultation and coordination on regional issues of common interest, supporting efforts to promote peace, stability, and security in the region.
The Egyptian Foreign Minister highlighted the importance of building on Arab consensus and enhancing joint coordination on issues and challenges that affect Arab national security and strategic interests. He emphasized that the Palestinian issue is at a critical juncture, requiring a unified Arab stance and effective joint action to end the occupation and protect the Palestinian people.
Dr. Abdelatty expressed Egypt's complete condemnation of Iranian attacks on several Arab countries, reaffirming his country's refusal to compromise the sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity of states. He stressed the need to contain escalation, reduce tension, and prevent the expansion of confrontation.
The Foreign Minister also rejected the use of seas, waterways, and straits as tools for pressure, escalation, or blackmail. He emphasized the importance of ensuring navigation security and freedom in accordance with international law. Dr. Abdelatty noted that Red Sea security is the sole responsibility of its coastal states and called for a political settlement to the Yemeni crisis.
Dr. Abdelatty hosted a meeting of the Arab-Islamic Group of Eight countries in New York, which includes Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Jordan, Turkey, Pakistan, and Indonesia. He stressed the need to intensify efforts to implement the Trump peace plan in Gaza and prevent any obstruction to its path.
The ministers expressed deep concern over the continued humanitarian suffering in Gaza and called on Israel to immediately fulfill its obligations under the first phase of the comprehensive plan. They emphasized the need for a commitment to a ceasefire and an end to all violations.
