The Egyptian National Food Safety Authority has intensified its oversight of food safety in the local market. As part of its efforts, the authority conducted 1,503 inspection campaigns across all governorates, covering 4,600 food establishments. These campaigns were carried out through 31 branches of the authority, targeting various food establishments to ensure compliance with food safety regulations.
The inspection campaigns resulted in the disposal of quantities of food products that were unfit for human consumption. Additionally, 95 refrigeration and freezing vehicles were licensed after meeting the required conditions. The authority also conducted 1,487 inspection missions on food circulation within rehabilitation centers, correctional facilities, and security forces.
In collaboration with relevant authorities, the food safety authority carried out joint inspection campaigns targeting food establishments. In Gharbiya governorate, 20 joint inspection campaigns were conducted, covering 180 food establishments. These campaigns led to the disposal of 2 tons of liver and 1 ton of dietary supplements that were expired and unfit for human consumption.
The authority also conducted inspection campaigns in other governorates, including Alaqsar and Qena. In these campaigns, 69 food establishments were inspected, resulting in the disposal of 213 kg of expired food products and the confiscation of 66 kg of products that had undergone changes in their natural properties.
In Ismailia governorate, 6 joint inspection campaigns were conducted, targeting 9 food establishments. These campaigns resulted in the confiscation of 10 tons and 730 kg of frozen strawberries and mangoes that showed signs of spoilage and were unfit for human consumption.
The food safety authority continued its inspection campaigns in other governorates, including Beheira and Damietta. In Beheira, 9 joint inspection campaigns were conducted, covering 45 food establishments. These campaigns led to the confiscation of 1 ton and 95 kg of sweets and 125 rolls of packaging materials bearing pharmaceutical product data.
The Egyptian National Food Safety Authority's efforts aim to enhance food safety and ensure the availability of safe and healthy food products for consumers. The authority's inspection campaigns will continue to monitor food establishments and enforce regulations to protect public health.
