Egyptian Education Minister Mohamed Abdellatif expressed his happiness with the celebration of the results of the first three stages of the National Program for Developing Arabic Language Skills and the launch of its fourth stage. He also announced the launch of the National Program for Developing Math Skills. Minister Abdellatif emphasized that the ministry's responsibility is not complete when a child enters a classroom, but when the child actually learns. He stated that this conviction is at the core of the ministry's work. The minister explained that the ministry has worked to restore the basic elements necessary for real learning within schools by improving attendance rates, addressing teacher shortages, and enhancing educational content.
The minister highlighted the importance of basic skills, noting that reading is not just an academic subject, but when learned with understanding, it makes knowledge available to students independently. He also pointed out that math skills go beyond performing calculations, developing a child's ability to recognize patterns, think logically, interpret information, and solve problems.
Minister Abdellatif mentioned that the experience of previous stages has proven that when learning gaps are precisely identified, and appropriate support is provided to teachers, targeted interventions are made, and progress is carefully measured, children can make real progress. He added that the launch of the fourth stage of the National Program for Developing Arabic Language Skills aims to expand the program's scope and enhance its impact.
The minister emphasized that evaluation is a pivotal element in these efforts, not just to determine who succeeded or failed, but to answer three basic questions: where a child stands, what they need, and what should be done next. He stressed that this mechanism turns evidence and data into actual procedures, developing educational systems.
Minister Abdellatif praised the role of teachers, stating that educational reform may be designed at the national level, but it becomes a reality inside the classroom. He highlighted the importance of teachers in shaping a child's life and announced the honoring of 17 teachers from 17 governorates who represent thousands of Egyptian teachers working daily.
The minister concluded by emphasizing the commitment to ensuring that no child attends school without achieving learning, and that each child has the opportunity to read, understand, think, reason, and solve problems. He stressed that providing children with strong educational foundations not only prepares them for the next academic stage but also enables them to build Egypt's future.
