The Alexandria Directorate of Supply and Internal Trade conducted a series of campaigns on supply outlets, bakeries, and markets across the city, resulting in the seizure of 156 ration cards and 88 cans of unidentified oil. The cards were being hoarded by a ration shop owner to make unauthorized transactions and profit from state subsidies meant for citizens. The campaigns were carried out based on directives from Dr. Sherif Farouk, the Minister of Supply and Internal Trade.
The operations were also conducted in line with instructions from Ayman Attia, the Governor of Alexandria, and under the supervision of Eng. Jamal Ammar, the Deputy Minister of Supply and Internal Trade in Alexandria. The goal was to intensify oversight on supply outlets, protect state subsidies, and ensure they reached their rightful beneficiaries. These efforts aim to control the market and prevent manipulation of subsidized goods.
The Supply and Internal Trade Directorate in Alexandria, led by Dr. Abdullah Othman, carried out inspections that led to the discovery of a ration shop owner possessing quantities of unidentified edible oil and selling it as subsidized oil, which constitutes commercial fraud. The seized oil was found to be of unknown origin and was being sold to citizens as if it were subsidized.
In addition to the oil seizure, authorities found a bakery disposing of 32 sacks of subsidized flour, with each sack weighing 50 kilograms. The bakery was operating in violation of regulations by selling the subsidized flour on the black market. This incident highlights the ongoing challenges in monitoring and controlling bakeries and supply outlets.
The Alexandria Directorate of Supply and Internal Trade also conducted campaigns on bakeries, resulting in the creation of nine violation reports for producing bread that was short in weight. These actions demonstrate the authorities' commitment to ensuring compliance with regulations and protecting consumer rights.
All necessary legal measures were taken against those found violating the regulations. The seizures and actions taken are part of broader efforts to monitor markets and supply outlets closely, combat manipulation of subsidized goods, and verify that subsidies reach their intended recipients.
The crackdown on illegal trading practices and the protection of state subsidies reflect the government's ongoing efforts to maintain control over the market and ensure fairness and transparency in the distribution of essential goods. The public is urged to report any instances of manipulation or irregularities in the supply chain.
