Egyptian officials welcomed a high-level Chinese delegation led by Zhong Baoshuai, head of the Qinghai Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), to discuss investment opportunities and industrial cooperation. The meeting, attended by Mustafa Sheikhoun, head of the Suez Canal Economic Zone, aimed to strengthen economic ties between Egypt and China. The Chinese delegation comprised several senior officials, including members of the standing committee and heads of various departments.

Sheikhoun emphasized that the visit follows the Chinese president's recent trip to Egypt, highlighting the significance of the meeting. He noted that the two countries have a strong track record of cooperation, particularly in the economic and investment sectors. The Suez Canal Economic Zone has been a prime example of this cooperation, with the Chinese developer TEDA-Egypt hosting numerous Chinese companies across various industries.

The Suez Canal Economic Zone offers a range of attractive opportunities and facilities for Chinese companies, Sheikhoun said. He expressed his hope that the talks would lead to increased Chinese investment in the zone and open up new avenues for companies and investors from Qinghai to capitalize on available opportunities. This, he believes, would support the localization of industries, boost production and exports, and yield mutual benefits for both countries.

Zhong Baoshuai expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and efforts to deepen friendship and expand investment opportunities. He emphasized that the presidential visits between the two countries and their cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative form a crucial foundation for enhancing communication and broadening economic and investment cooperation.

The Chinese delegation showcased the natural and industrial advantages of Qinghai Province, highlighting its reliance on salt extraction and related industries, as well as its potential in new materials, zero-carbon initiatives, clean energy, and tourism. They also emphasized the province's expertise in producing lithium batteries for electric vehicles and energy storage systems.

The two sides discussed potential cooperation and joint investment partnerships within the Suez Canal Economic Zone. This follows a significant development earlier this month, when the Suez Canal Economic Zone and the Chinese Ministry of Commerce signed a memorandum of understanding, in the presence of the two countries' leaders, to support cooperation and pave the way for further Chinese investment in the zone.

The meeting marks a significant step in strengthening economic ties between Egypt and China. Both sides expressed their commitment to exploring new opportunities for cooperation and investment, with a focus on mutually beneficial outcomes. The discussions are expected to yield positive results, enhancing the existing partnership between the two nations.
