Other airports that have seen significant growth include El Alamein International Airport, which recorded 99,921 passengers, up 22,512 from the same period last year, representing a growth of 29.1%. The airport has been witnessing increased activity, particularly with the hosting of the second edition of the El Alamein International Air and Space Show.
The growth in passenger traffic is not limited to major tourist destinations, with airports in southern Egypt also seeing significant growth. Sohag and Asyut airports recorded a combined total of 222,445 passengers, up 34,948 from the same period last year, representing a growth of 18.6%. This growth reflects the increasing importance of regional airports in serving travel to and from governorates in Upper Egypt.
Other airports that have seen growth in passenger traffic include Mersa Matruh International Airport, which recorded 69,043 passengers, up 2.3% from the same period last year. Port Said Airport saw 3,705 passengers, up 67% from the same period last year. Alexandria Airport recorded 436,211 passengers, up 0.1% from the same period last year.
