Egyptian Agriculture Minister Alaa Farouk departed Cairo for Madrid, Spain, to attend the opening of Fruit Attraction 2026, a prominent international exhibition for fruits and vegetables. The event, scheduled from October 6 to 8, features a significant presence of major producers, exporters, importers, and international retail chains. Farouk's participation comes in response to an invitation from his Spanish counterpart, Luis Planas, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food.

During his visit, Farouk will engage in bilateral meetings to explore ways to enhance agricultural cooperation between Egypt and Spain, exchange expertise, and support the growth of agricultural trade between the two nations. He emphasized that Egypt prioritizes applying the highest quality and tracking standards in all stages of production and export, boosting the confidence of European and global markets in Egyptian agricultural products.

Farouk highlighted the government's commitment to providing support to farmers and exporters, promoting the competitiveness of Egyptian agricultural products, and addressing obstacles that may hinder export growth and access to new markets. Egypt's participation in Fruit Attraction 2026 aims to expand its customer base, capitalize on the upcoming export season, and strengthen the presence of Egyptian agricultural products in international markets.

The Egyptian delegation at the exhibition includes several companies specializing in exporting agricultural products, reflecting the private sector's efforts to leverage the event's substantial international presence and promote Egyptian agricultural products. Farouk noted that Egypt's involvement also seeks to explore the latest developments in supply chains and international competition mechanisms, enabling Egyptian companies to enhance their tools and competitiveness in external markets.

This engagement aligns with Egypt's efforts to support agricultural exports and access new markets for national products, while adhering to international quality standards and requirements. The Ministry of Agriculture had previously announced growth in Egyptian agricultural exports and the opening of new markets for various crops, emphasizing the importance of complying with international standards to maintain the quality and reputation of Egyptian products in global markets.

The Fruit Attraction exhibition provides a valuable platform for Egyptian companies to establish direct meetings with international buyers and importers, negotiate export contracts and programs, and expand their customer base. By participating in such international events, Egypt aims to reinforce its position as a significant player in the global agricultural market and increase its export capabilities.

The exhibition's significance is underscored by the presence of major industry players and the opportunities it presents for knowledge sharing, networking, and business development. As Egypt continues to focus on enhancing its agricultural sector and export capabilities, its participation in Fruit Attraction 2026 reflects the country's commitment to fostering growth, competitiveness, and international cooperation in the industry.
