The Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Financial Supervisory Authority have signed a memorandum of understanding to support entrepreneurship and innovation among Egyptian youth. The agreement aims to empower young people and develop their capabilities in entrepreneurship, innovation, and financial technology. The MoU was signed by Mohamed Saeed Mazen, Acting Minister of Youth and Sports, and Ahmed Khalifa, Executive Director of the Regulatory Sandbox at the Financial Supervisory Authority.

The MoU aims to promote integration between the two parties in supporting entrepreneurship and innovation among youth. The agreement includes implementing training programs, awareness campaigns, and workshops in various governorates across Egypt. The focus will be on financial technology, non-banking financial services, and financial culture. The goal is to help young people acquire the necessary skills to establish and develop their projects in line with market needs.

The cooperation includes supporting the implementation of innovative youth ideas and projects through the Regulatory Sandbox. The sandbox provides a controlled environment for testing and developing innovative financial solutions. The agreement also involves organizing events, competitions, and innovation challenges. Additionally, it provides guidance and support to young people with promising ideas, connecting them with business incubators, accelerators, and funding opportunities.

The areas of cooperation include supporting innovation in non-banking financial services, such as insurance, non-bank financing, and capital markets. The Regulatory Sandbox allows qualified projects to test their business models and products in a controlled environment. This helps to develop and refine innovative financial solutions while ensuring regulatory compliance and protecting consumers.

Minister of Youth and Sports, Joher Nabil, emphasized that supporting and empowering young people economically is a key aspect of Egypt's development strategy. He highlighted the importance of collaboration between the Ministry and the Financial Supervisory Authority in providing a supportive environment for innovation and entrepreneurship. Nabil also stressed that young people are Egypt's true wealth and that investing in their capabilities and ideas is crucial for building a sustainable future.

Dr. Islam Azzam, Head of the Financial Supervisory Authority, noted that the MoU represents a significant step towards expanding cooperation with national institutions to empower young people and encourage innovation and entrepreneurship. He emphasized that building a supportive environment for new ideas requires integrating roles and exchanging expertise. Azzam also highlighted the importance of connecting innovators with relevant parties, expertise, and funding opportunities.

The Financial Supervisory Authority's Regulatory Sandbox has received over 50 project proposals in its first year, with 9 projects receiving preliminary approval to join the sandbox. The authority aims to develop the sandbox into a leading center for financial technology in the region, promoting innovation and investment in the non-banking financial sector.
