Egyptian steel solutions provider Union has entered into a contract with the Suez Canal Authority's port company to supply a metal dock at Port Said. The project is expected to be completed by October this year. This marks the first time Union has worked with the Suez Canal Authority's port company. The company specializes in designing, manufacturing, and installing steel structures and solutions for various sectors.
Union Steel Solutions was established in Egypt's market in 2005 and primarily deals with main contractors, large construction companies, consulting offices, and clients. The company's services include manufacturing metal structures, supplying and installing, and producing iron sections according to client specifications. Its projects encompass industrial, commercial, and residential sectors, as well as infrastructure and construction projects.
The company's sales engineer, Mohamed Samir, stated that Union's main clients are large construction companies and consulting offices. These clients require diverse solutions and steel products for their projects. Samir added that Union provides integrated engineering solutions for various sectors. The company's activities involve manufacturing metal structures, including factories, warehouses, and other iron structures.
Samir expects Union's exports to increase by around 10% by the end of 2026 compared to 2025 levels. The company plans to expand into new African markets, including Algeria, Ghana, and Nigeria, in addition to enhancing its presence in European markets. Egypt's iron and steel exports declined by 14% during the period from January to July 2026, reaching $969 million, compared to $1.127 billion in the same period of 2025.
Regarding the possibility of listing Union's shares on the stock exchange, Samir stated that this is not part of the company's current plans. He cited the instability of the iron market, fluctuations in raw material prices, and potential shortages as major challenges facing the company. Union is working to address these challenges by implementing risk management mechanisms.
Samir announced that Union plans to participate in the Big 5 Construct Egypt exhibition, scheduled to take place from June 14 to 16 at the Egypt International Exhibition Center in New Cairo. The company had previously participated in the Egypt Projects exhibition, held on September 5-6, at the same venue. These events provide opportunities for Union to showcase its services and products to potential clients.
The company's growth strategy involves expanding its presence in new markets and enhancing its product offerings. With over 15 years of experience in Egypt's steel solutions market, Union aims to solidify its position as a leading provider of steel structures and solutions. The company's contract with the Suez Canal Authority's port company marks a significant milestone in its growth journey.
