Egypt's Tax Authority participated in the first day of BRICS tax expert meetings in India, marking a significant step in strengthening international cooperation and knowledge sharing. The meetings aim to bring together tax experts from BRICS countries to discuss and exchange best practices in tax administration. Egypt's participation is led by Dr. Rashaa Abd El-Al, head of the Egyptian Tax Authority.
The Egyptian delegation, led by Abd El-Al, engaged in discussions on various working groups, focusing on enhancing revenue, international taxation, and transfer pricing. Egypt proposed expanding the scope of work for the revenue enhancement group to include sharing experiences and best practices in tax dispute resolution and dealing with tax arrears. This proposal was well-received and will be presented to the heads of tax administrations.
The Egyptian Tax Authority also contributed to the data sources and tax cooperation track, which focuses on exchanging experiences and technological solutions used in developing tax work and facilitating services. This participation allows Egypt to benefit from the applications and practices developed by tax administrations in member countries.
Egypt played a prominent role in the Women in Taxation network, co-leading the work-life balance axis with India. The Egyptian delegation presented practical strategies and practices for achieving balance and prioritizing tasks, supporting the professional development of women working in tax administrations.
The Egyptian Tax Authority also participated in the Tax Support Network and Knowledge Center track, which aims to provide and exchange information on tax systems of member countries to support tax awareness and the investment environment. Egypt provided information on its tax system, procedures, and electronic services to be included in the shared knowledge content.
The Egyptian delegation, comprising Dr. Abdel Razek Shoukry, Deputy Head of the Tax Authority, and Dr. Afaf Ibrahim, Deputy Head of the Tax Authority, will continue to participate in the expert meetings to discuss the remaining working groups and cooperation tracks.
