He stated that the target is to perform six open-heart surgeries per month, with two to three operations conducted at a time. The post-operative care period typically lasts around 10 days.
Dr. Saeed Abdel Aziz, a consultant in open-heart surgery at Cairo's Kasr Al-Ainy Hospital, praised the unit's facilities and equipment. He noted that the operating rooms and intensive care units at the Suez Canal Authority hospital are on par with those at major hospitals and medical centers. This enables the hospital to handle complex open-heart surgeries with ease.
Dr. Abdel Aziz highlighted the importance of collaboration among various medical specialties in conducting open-heart surgeries. He emphasized that the surgery team consists of 10 members, including anesthesiologists, surgeons, assistants, and nurses. The team has been working to transfer knowledge and train the hospital's staff in open-heart surgery.
