Egyptian Assistant Minister of Tourism and Antiquities for Tourism Companies Affairs, Samia Sami, recently participated in the IAA TRANSPORTATION 2026 exhibition held in Hannover, Germany. This event aligns with the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities' efforts to keep pace with global technological advancements and explore ways to utilize modern technologies in enhancing tourist transportation services in Egypt.
During her visit, Sami held several meetings with representatives from prominent companies specializing in transportation technology and fleet management. The focus was on identifying the latest technological solutions used in this field and discussing potential benefits for developing Egypt's tourist transportation monitoring and control systems.
The meetings covered the latest vehicle tracking and monitoring systems, as well as their potential to support and improve the monitoring and control of tourist vehicles. This aims to enhance the role of the GPS Tourist Vehicle Tracking Center, under the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, and improve the efficiency of vehicle movement tracking and driver performance monitoring.
Discussions also highlighted various modern technological solutions that could contribute to enhancing safety levels, reducing accidents, and improving the operational efficiency of tourist vehicles. This can be achieved by implementing the latest tracking, monitoring, and fleet management mechanisms.
These efforts are in line with directives from Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Sherif Fathy, to develop different elements of the tourism system and elevate the level of services provided to tourists. This includes tourist transportation as a crucial element, supporting tourist safety and comfort, improving vehicle operation efficiency, and aligning with the trend towards more sustainable transportation means.
Alongside Sami, other participants from the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities included Eng. Hosam El-Badawi, General Manager of the Tourist Transportation Department. Representing the Egyptian Chamber of Travel and Tourism Companies and Agents, Eng. Moneer Felfel, Chairman of the Chamber's Tourist Transportation Committee, also attended the event.
By engaging with the latest technologies in tourist transportation, Egypt aims to bolster its tourism sector. The exploration of advanced vehicle tracking and monitoring systems is a strategic move to enhance tourist safety, improve service quality, and ensure efficient transportation operations.
