Egyptian shipping company Saimit Shipping has introduced a new service connecting India to Sokhna port, a key port on the Red Sea. The service, dubbed "Bharat Red Sea" (BRS), will operate with two container ships, each with a capacity of 900 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU). The company did not disclose the frequency of the service. This development aims to strengthen trade ties between India and Egypt.

The BRS service will follow a specific route: Nava Sheva - Mundra - Sokhna - Nava Sheva. This route will provide direct links between two major container ports in India and Egypt. By offering this service, Saimit Shipping seeks to capitalize on growing trade between the two nations. The service is expected to enhance the efficiency of cargo transportation between India and Egypt.

Saimit Shipping's new service is not its first venture in the region. In August last year, the company, in collaboration with Qatar Navigation (MOL), launched the "Turkey-Libya Express" service. This weekly feeder service connects ports in Turkey, Libya, and Egypt, catering to major shipping lines and non-vessel operating common carriers (NVOCCs). The service includes ports such as Alexandria, Misrata, and Ambarli.

The Turkey-Libya Express service, which began operations on August 22, reflects Saimit Shipping's focus on regional feeder services. The company operates in around 20 ports across the UAE, China, India, South Korea, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Pakistan. Saimit Shipping specializes in logistics and regional feeder services, supporting its clients with efficient transportation solutions.

The launch of the Bharat Red Sea service demonstrates Saimit Shipping's commitment to expanding its presence in the Indian-Egyptian trade corridor. By providing direct connections between major ports in India and Egypt, the company aims to reduce transit times and costs for its clients. This move is expected to boost trade between the two countries and strengthen Saimit Shipping's position in the market.

The Sokhna port, where the BRS service will be based, is a strategic location for trade between India and Egypt. The port's proximity to the Suez Canal, a vital waterway for international trade, makes it an attractive hub for shipping companies. Saimit Shipping's decision to operate its service from Sokhna port underscores the importance of this location in global trade.

As Saimit Shipping continues to expand its services, the company is likely to play a significant role in shaping the regional shipping landscape. With its expertise in feeder services and logistics, Saimit Shipping is well-positioned to capitalize on growing trade opportunities in the region. The company's focus on providing efficient and reliable services will be crucial in driving growth and development in the Indian-Egyptian trade corridor.
